What Is AEGIS and How Does Smart Routing Work?
AEGIS is Cozanet's financial operating system. This article explains what is live today and how smart routing between crypto, bank, and mobile money rails is designed to work.
AEGIS is Cozanet's financial operating system for connecting Web3 assets with traditional financial and payment infrastructure. The goal: when someone moves money across Africa's crypto, bank, and mobile money rails, AEGIS decides — automatically — which rail is cheapest or fastest for that specific transfer, and routes through it.
What is live today (Phase One)
AEGIS is deployed at aegis.cozanet.net. Today it provides custodial wallets on BNB Smart Chain (users operate wallets through their AEGIS account), token swaps routed through PancakeSwap with a dedicated CZN/WBNB pool for the CZN token, a treasury fee ledger that records on-chain fee collection, notifications, and the Cozanet AI assistant with persistent memory. This is real, usable software — but it is deliberately called Phase One, because the routing layer it is building toward is not finished.
How smart routing is designed to work
Today, moving money between rails is manual: a person decides to use a bank transfer, a mobile-money provider, or a crypto transfer, and pays whatever that rail costs. The Smart Router inverts this. A transfer request specifies what to move and where; the router queries the available rails (banking, mobile money, blockchain networks such as BNB Smart Chain and Stellar, stablecoin settlement such as Circle Arc/USDC), compares cost, speed, and reliability at that moment, and executes through the best option — with failover to another rail if one fails mid-route.
Why an engine architecture
Routing decisions need current data: rates, rail availability, fees, risk. AEGIS implements this as gateway-first microservices — independent engines (rates, market, risk, treasury, swap, transfer) behind a unified gateway. Each engine owns its domain and scales independently. The frontend holds no business logic; it calls the gateway. This is also what makes the router auditable: every routing decision can be logged with its inputs.
Status: in development
The Smart Router itself is not live. Phase One proves the components — wallets, swaps, fee handling, engine communication — on one rail (BNB Smart Chain). The router that combines multiple rails is the next phase of work. Read the roadmap for the current status of every component.
